Hurrican

For those looking for a wild 2 dimensional FPS (First Person shooter), you couldn’t look elsewhere. The game is based on turrican and if you like difficult games, you’ll drool over this one. The Year is 2138 AD (not unusual) and you and your crew are returning to planet earth in their spaceship, the dreadnought. However a distress signal from earth deters you and you head to the planet Takatis to destroy the evil doctor Geng X who has mysteriously returned. However, your ship is destroyed and you are the lone survivor. Your objective is clear: You must stop the evil doctor from continuing his reign of terror.

When you start the tutorial, you might think that the levels are amazingly designed and the gameplay is full of suspense. However, this is far from the truth when you start the game, as it is nothing but a blast away (and we mean really blast away) through 9 totally wicked and crazy levels. There is no suspense and you will just want to finish the game and not care about what’s going to happen next in the level. This makes the game somewhat boring and the crazy blasting away is not full of action either. There are lots of repetitions too.

You might guess that the difficulty would be impossible and you would be wrong- it is even tougher. There are four modes available-easy, medium, hard and Hurrican, but you would have to be extremely skilled and lucky to win even in easy, let alone Hurrican.

The gameplay is very unrealistic as you don’t recoil when you are hit by enemies. Also, you have very little time for strategy and careful thinking as the enemies come in droves and shoot like anything at you. However, the weapons available are cool.

The graphics are slightly good but the visual appeal in certain levels is certainly lacking. The sound tracks are decent and you shouldn’t find anything wrong in them, except if you love bass, then you’ll be a bit disappointed.

Verdict:

An average game but with great weapons and a variety of enemies. However the level design is a bit boring, but since this is an FPS, we’ll ignore it this time. The difficulty is impossible cubed.
